Let The Games Begin! London 2012 Olympics Open In Style

Where to start? Kenneth Branagh as Brunel? JK Rowling reading Peter Pan? Beckham on a speed boat? Mr Bean playing Chariots of Fire?? James Bond and The Queen (THE ACTUAL QUEEN OF ENGLAND) parachuting out of a helicopter???

Seriously, what's not to love?

London 2012
5 rings to rule them all.
London 2012 2
The Queen of fucking England can ACT! Sort of!
London 2012 4
Genuinely funny skit with Rowan Atkinson.
London 2012 3
The forging of the rings was spell binding.
It was brilliant. A little bat shit crazy at times, but a great representation of being British. Danny Boyle can sleep easy tonight, he's done us proud.

There's seriously nothing on the BBC and it's 24 HD channels for the next 2 weeks unless you like sport, so now might be a great time to watch all that stuff cluttering up your Sky+ box.

For everyone else, enjoy the Greatest Show On Earth.

Why Robert Downey Jr. Is Awesome #7

Some news from Comic-Con for Iron Man 3. Not only do we see the new suit but it's been confirmed Sir Ben Kingsley will play the Mandarin.

Iron Man 3 1
It was all yellow.
What do we think of the new suit? Well, it's just like the others really. A bit more yellow though.

RDJ Comic con
RDJ complete with Iron Man hand.
Iron Man 3 seems to have come together really quickly (even though I know it's not out until next year) but let's hope it can build on The Avengers success. I have great faith in Shane Black.

We've also got the new titles for upcoming sequels; Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: The Dark World. Looking forward to it Marvel.

TOWIE Is Back, Back, Back Tonight!

TOWIE S6
No words.
TOWIE is back on ITV2 tonight for it’s 6th series (yes SIXTH) and what are we in store for? Well, Arg and Gemma are a couple now, even after that “You’ll never get this candy” (hurl) parlava at Marbs. I personally can’t stand either of them, they are both using each other to get as much money off of this “relationship” as they possibly can. I can guarantee there will be an argument in tonight’s episode and we will be left thinking “Have they broken up??” But we won’t care. They’ve already “discussed” marriage but so what? I’ve been known to discuss bungee jumping, it doesn’t mean I’m going to dive off a building anytime soon. Together they are sure to be the gruesome twosome and I have this horrible feeling this series will all be about them. If you ask me (and why wouldn't you?) Lydia is better off without that complete waste of space Arg. Tom seems like a really nice guy, and they are much more suited than Tom and Billi (or is it Cara? Those two are inseparable. I mean the one who's not his sister).

Jessica and Ricky are also officially a couple, but Jess has said that they have no interest in becoming “the show’s biggest love story.” What shall we give it? One episode before she is moaning about the lack of airtime probably given to Gemma and Arg? I think so. But she might be too busy for TOWIE as she has her music career to think of…

My favourite bit is when she comes out the water with her mascara running.

We’ve also had the news this week that Georgina will not be returning to Essex. Let’s be honest, she was hardly in it anyway and when she was she wasn’t interesting. Her not being at Marbs probably meant that the writing was on the wall with that one.

ITV2 have released some promo photos for the sixth series and in the main photo (below) I thought there were so odd absentees. Where’s Sam, queen hanger-on of the most eligible bachelor of the show (whoever he may be)? Why isn’t Lydia, Jess or even Lauren G there? No room for Gemma? Who thought it would be a good idea to put Mick in the photo? Maybe you should have put in Nanny Pat as well. And by the look of it, someone has made Joey Essex the leading man. A very random cast photo that one.

TOWIE CAST S6
Who let Mick in?
Lots of stuff has kicked off behind the scenes, let’s hope for some fireworks on screen. And maybe some fun new characters too.

Videos I Will NEVER Tire Of- #7 Cool Guys Don't Look At Explosions

Made for MTV, Andy Samberg and Will Ferrell sing it how it is.

WHY IT'S AWESOME: For starters it's 80s heavy and it has Will Ferrell, sorry I mean Neil Diamond singing.

It also contains these amazing lyrics

  • "Don't think about the people you've killed"
  • "The more you ignore it, the cooler you look"
  • "Mark Wahlberg is wearing a hat"
and my personal favourite...
  • "There's cool guy errands that they have to walk to."
Also see if you can guess all the films. I love a good montage. Who doesn't?

They raise a good point too... How do Cool Guys walk away from explosions? And as if to confirm a "real life take" on this, take a look at this video.

"Don't you DARE bad month Star Wars! That was all accurate!"

BEST PART? JJ Abrahms turning up for his keyboard solo.

I've Just Remembered It Was Benedict Cumberbatch's Birthday Yesterday!!

Benedict Cumberbatch turned 36 yesterday so in celebration, here's a lovely photo.

Benedict Cumberbatch

I can't wait for Star Trek 2, The Hobbit, Parade's End and of course, lots more Sherlock. Loads to look forward to for fans of The Batch (nobody calls him that really).

WHY IS MUSIC DOING THIS TO US?

Alex Reid head
Alex Reid
Remember a few weeks ago when Alex Reid released his debut single Stardust with a band called Shelter? Well, he made a video too. In a basement. Complete with running man dance moves, the robot, some kickboxing and a guy doing the worm it's all happening at a really cool party with about 10 people.

My favourite person is that blonde women who keeps pulling her skirt down. You stay classy.

I know you want to turn it off straight away but wait until the 3 minute mark. He obviously can't wait to get down to Chinawhite on Saturday night to check out if his "Alex Reid Punch Dance" has hit the dance floors.

Good luck with that one Alex.

Ultimate DVD Collection #2 Clue

Now, I'm not saying these are the greatest films ever, I'm not even saying they're particularly very good but I love them for one reason or another and they get watched a fair bit in our household.

This is my Ultimate DVD Collection so let's continue with one of my all time favourite movies based on a board game, Clue.

Henry IV Part 1 Was On TV Last Night With Tom Hiddleston...

And I'm not sure what it was but I was finding that jacket very sexy...

Tom Hiddleston Henry VI

Tom Hiddleston did look VERY attractive in it. I hope it features more in Henry V.

The Hollow Crown: Henry IV Part 1 is repeated tonight on BBC4 9pm. Seriously, check him out it that jacket and for a brilliant Jeremy Irons impression.

I know it's barely a post but I'm off to watch Andy Murray (hopefully) win the Wimbledon title. Once more into the breach dear friends... (SHAKESPEARE. Just a taster for Henry V.)

Peter Andre's Bad Boyfriends Club and Other Shit ITV Have Said "Yes Let's Commission That, I Want An Early Lunch."

After the disaster of Mark Wright's Hollywood Nights and the drubbing that followed it you would think ITV might want to do something a bit different with their new shows. Some new blood and original ideas. Well. You're wrong. The first totally original idea is Peter Andre's Bad Boyfriends Club (NO IT'S NOTHING LIKE E4'S TOOL ACADEMY). He's going to turn the nations hopeless boyfriends into hopeless romantics.

Peter Andre 2
Never has there been someone so untalented but oh so smug.
Calling all ladies!! Is your boyfriend "always watching the football over your shoulder? Does he take less pride in his appearance than he did when you first started dating?" If YOUR relationship is suffering Pete will help!! Yeah, because I'll take advice from a divorced father of 2 who "conveniently" only dates girls who are signed to the same PR company. I mean, really. Here's an idea girls. If you're dating a big fat waste of space who loves football/his mates/everything else more than you, don't call Peter Andre. Just dump the loser. Because I can guarantee if your boyfriend doesn't listen to you, he sure as hell won't listen to Peter "Insania" Andre.

What else has ITV up their sleeves?? Dear god, Surprise Surprise is back for a one off special. With Holly "I really don't think I'm on TV enough" Willoughby. It took us long enough to get rid of this shit, why bring it back?

We've got AN AMAZING (yes they use capital letters) new comedy hypnotism game show called I Know What You Did Last Week. A nice, threatening title for a show with Rufus Hound who was found wondering the halls of ITV2 after he didn't want to be on Celebrity Juice any more. I was just thinking we could do with a new hypnotism game show too! It's just an excuse to laugh at idiots who think this kind of show would be a good idea, mainly the after pub crowd. Unless it's got Paul McKenna in it, I don't want it.

My favourite must be a show called The Resort. They want to pack off some young people to a beach resort and see what happens. It's TOWIE on a beach (again). So a bit like Made In Chelsea, TOWIE and Geordie Shore but it'll be less regional.

Good luck ITV, you're going to need it.

Videos I Will NEVER Tire of #6 The Wicker Man Comedy Trailer

It turns out you CAN totally change a movie by putting a different soundtrack to it.

WHY IT'S AWESOME: Because this is truly an awful film. An awful, AWFUL film. But this trailer makes me want to watch it again.

BEST PART: So, so many to choose from.
  • "What's in the bag? A shark or something?"
  • "HOW'D IT GET BURNED??? HOW'D IT GET BURNED??? HOW'D IT GET BURNED??? HOW'D IT GET BURNED???"
  • "Step away from the bike."
  • "From Warner Bros. comes a comedy about traditions, love and bees."
  • Nicholas Cage dressed as a bear?
  • Nicholas Cage punching a woman in the face??
Let's be honest, as soon as you start hearing Katrina And The Waves it's all gold from there. Favourite fake trailer, ever.
